Mavic XC717(old 517 & 317)

Remove rim tape and install 1 or 2 layers of included Universal Kit Tape, pull the tape tightly while applying and overlap 2". Carefully cut a hole for the valve stem. On these Rims you should drop your rim strip into your soap and water before installing. The slippery soap will help it fit in the rim cavity.

Mavic XM317 (old 221)

Leave in your existing rim tape unless the tire mounts too hard.

Mavic XM719 (old 519) and 223

Leave in your existing rim tape. For best results and easier inflating for Mavic 223, use two layers of 17mm Velox rim tape centered in the rim cavity. On the second layer of Velox tape leave a 1/2 inch opening on each side of the valve stem. This one inch opening will make inflating easier.

Ritchey OCR

You can leave in your existing rim tape with most tires.

Salsa Delgado, Semi

Do not use thin tape provided, use one layer of 17mm Velox rim tape centered in the rim cavity. This rim will inflate easy.

Sun Sub4, 0 XC,
0 Lite, CR18, AT18, UFO

You should also remove your existing rim strip and use my thin tape. You must also enlarge the inside hole to 3/8 inch to let the rim strip sit flat in the rim cavity.

Velocity VXC

Standard Tubeless Kit \ 21.5 - 24.5mm Standard Rim Strip. You should remove the factory rim tape and use Universal Kit Tape. Also make sure you enlarge the inside hole to 3/8 inch.

Velocity 225

Use one layer of 22 or 17mm Velox rim tape underneath the rim strip.

WTB Speed Master, Laser Beam, LaserDisc

You can leave in your existing rim tape with most tires.

DT 4.1 / 4.2

You can leave in your existing rim tape or two layers of Universal Kit Tape with most tires.

DT 5.1

Add one layer of 17mm Velox For most tires.

With this disc only rim use one layer of 17mm Velox rim tape over the spoke holes. Then install the standard 26 inch rim strip over stretched. The Velox rim tape will fill in the center of the rim making the rim strip and the 29'er tire fit and inflate more easily.

You can leave in your existing rim tape with most tires.

Sun Double Wide  (26 and 24 inch rims)

You can leave in your existing rim tape with most tires. If you have this rim you should call us and ask for our widest rim strips. this rim is a little wide but should work with most tires.

WTB LaserDisc DH (26 and 24 inch rims)

You can leave in your existing rim tape with most tires. this rim has a large rectangular center disc and with some tires it is impossible to inflate. Use a 5/8 inch x 1/8 inch thick felt weather strip purchased at a hardware store to fill in this rectangular channel. Use the Universal Kit Tape in the kit for spoke protection. then cut a piece of double faced tape to the proper width and use this tape to hold the weather stripping in place. then install the rim strip on top. this will make inflating much easier and will also help hold the tire on the rim if you do encounter a large cut or tear

Rhyno Lite Rim Strip

Mavic XM321(old 219)

You will need to use one layer of 17mm Velox rim tape underneath the rim strip and center it in the rim cavity. This will fill in the rim cavity, making the rim strip a little wider. The rim strip will not go up the sides of this rim, just make it look the same all around the rim. It will inflate easy.

Mavic EX721(old 521)

This rim will work better with one layer of 22mm Velox rim tape instead of the Universal Kit Tape provided. This 22mm Velox rim tape also pushes the rim strip up closer to the bottom of the tire improving the seal.

Sun Rhyno Lite (NOT RHYNO LITE XL)

On the Rhyno Lite rim you may want to remove your existing rim tape and use the thin tape provided. Most of the other rims listed you can leave in your existing rim tape with most tires.

29er Rim Strip

Salsa DELGADO 29er DISC

Are not compatible with tubeless tires or tubeless systems.

Bontrager 29er V-brake rims ONLY

Remove valve stem and plastic sealing strip. Use one layer of thin spoke tape provided in the kit. Do not use any other rim strip or you will have problems sealing some tires.

Mavic 520 Touring

You can leave in your existing rim tape with most tires.

Bontrager 29er DISC rims ONLY

With this disc only rim use one layer of 17mm Velox rim tape over the spoke holes. Then install the standard 26 inch rim strip over stretched. The Velox rim tape will fill in the center of the rim making the rim strip and the 29'er tire fit and inflate more easily.

UST Rims

A light weight to fix UST rims. You can add a single layer of 1/4"x1/8" foam weather stripping below the rim strip to improve the shape of the strip making inflation easier.
