Merida-Wallonie MTB Team
Team Merida has been created to resolve the lack of a high-level mountain bike structure in the south of Belgium. The country's ideal terrain has lead to the creation of a UCI Team whose first goal is the training of young talent from the junior category. After five years of existence, Team Merida Wallonie has climbed the rankings to become Belgium's number 1 team and to become an example of a junior development team in Europe. The performances are more and more impressive: victories in the World Cup Marathon, podium on the Roc d'Azur, Belgian Champion title, Benelux Champion title, podium on the world championships, world cups, the whole junior squad selected in the national team. Our structure allowed the pyramid in Wallonie to rise, and to enlarge its base.
Sébastien CARABIN (Elite): The example to follow for all young bikers, Sébastien (28 years old) presents an impressive palmarès but is motivated as a young beginner. He missed his ticket for the Rio Olympic Games with some disappointment, but he’s showing more and more desire to succeed in his objectives, cross-country and marathon. His strengths are his endurance and technical ability on rough road surfaces.

Pierre DE FROIDMONT (U23): Lanky runner, Pierre made an excellent start to his 1st season with the Espoirs. His climbing talents allow it to have high ambitions for future campaigns.

Tom DENAYER (U23): Arrived in the Junior category without experience, Tom demonstrates fine technical skills which, combined with a lightweight, that helped him to get strong results in big and difficult cross. With the U23, he will have to improve his strength and power to compete with the more experienced bikers. A young age remains an advantage, room for improvement remains.

Emeline DETILLEUX (Junior): Her domination at the Belgian level was expected but, for a 1st year junior woman, her international results exceeded all expectations.
